Ori Opossum lives in the forest with his fellow forest animals. On this particular night, while he was hungry, his stomach grumbled loudly. He decided to look for sticks to start a fire when he came across some trash in the forest, and because of this, he could not find any sticks. He was sad and cried for help from his friends. His friends Bear, Skunk, and Owl were unhappy that someone had created a mess in the forest, their home. They all agreed to work together, clean the forest, and help Ori Opossum find sticks to make a fire. Read Acy Day's Sticks and Stars: A Find-and-Count Adventure to discover if they solve the trash problem.
Sticks and Stars is a children's book that aims to enlighten young readers socially and morally. It introduces the concepts of problem-solving and critical thinking for children and teaches them the importance of teamwork. The book explores appreciation, friendship, social bonding, and many more themes. I also learned that we should never forget that the forest is home to different animals and should be kept clean, especially after events like picnics. Sticks and Stars would also teach children about basic numbers and help guardians with teaching them counting. Another aspect that made Sticks and Stars stand out was the beautiful pictures, which helped make the story lively. Children will learn what various animals like bears, opossums, skunks, and many more look like. I recommend this book to schools, guardians, and parents with children between 4 and 7.
