Sparks of Love by Mary L. Ball is a romance mystery that entertains the frequently asked question of "why?" Lynette Cunningham has run from the rumors and accusations of the past and made her life away from her hometown of Freedom. When the company she works for goes out of business, she is free to do as she pleases. Her father, Max, wants her to return to Freedom because he believes that he has found the evidence that will clear her of all suspicion, once and for all. That night, Max is murdered while his house is burned down. When Lynette returns home to take care of his final arrangements, she meets Price Fletcher, her father's young pastor. Lynette decides to stay in Freedom while she waits for the police to find who has killed her father and while she decides what she will do with her future.
While staying in the garage apartment, she begins to search the apartment and the garage for clues that Max might have hidden there. Over the next weeks, Lynette and Price begin a romantic relationship. She has several mysterious accidents, but continues searching. When the one clue that she finds turns out to be a false hope, she wonders if this was the evidence that Max had set his hopes on, or if there is something else hidden and waiting to be found. There is one box left to search. Before she opens it, she and Price devise a plan to use the unopened box to set a trap for whoever killed Max. Will they succeed and will Freedom ever welcome Lynette home to stay?
Mary L. Ball delivers a romance with mystery and faith. Her story and characters are enthralling and compelling for the most part. About the middle of the book, there is some stalling that distracts from the book. However, the story and the characters are good, very good, and this is worth the read. Mary L. Ball delivers on the intrigue and mystery, she delivers on the romance and the faith aspects of the story, and tells a story that is both interesting and riveting. Overall, I really liked this book.
