Souled Out by Blakely Chorpenning is Book 1 of the Ell Clyne Series. Ell Clyne is nothing special, she’s just an ordinary girl living in an ordinary town. Except for one thing – she reads the future through souls. Plus she works for those who can’t stand being in the daylight – vampires to you and me – and she only got the job by telling a huge lie. So really, ordinary no longer holds true. That lie she told? The vampires have just discovered it and now they want some answers from her and there’s every chance it just might kill her. Ell needs to find out who sold her down the river and why before her soul, her life and her family are taken from her forever. You see, when you work for vampires, lying comes with a sacrifice – a blood sacrifice - and that’s a price that Ell cannot afford to pay.
Souled Out (Ell Clyne Series Book 1) by Blakely Chorpenning is a great paranormal read. It has a unique storyline that you get hooked on right from the start, compelling and engaging enough that you won't put it down once you start. The characters are likable, rather unique in themselves, and there’s quite a mixture of them too. The vampire element doesn’t overpower the story; it’s just there but it isn’t really the main thread of the story – that’s all about Ell trying to save her own soul. The plot is well-paced and, although this is quite a dark story, there is enough humor to lighten things up. Overall, an interesting story, an enjoyable read, ideal for those who love both paranormal and vampire stories with a difference. Looking forward to book 2.
