Author Biography

Stephen Kunkler is a mentally disabled author who enjoys the adventures of writing and reading. His works attempt to stray far and away from all worn paths and are generally influenced by his Religious background, among other things. He has won awards such as The Official Sons of the American Revolution Award, even before he graduated from New Lexington in 2012.

Soul Release, his first book, is inspired by both Anime/Manga and Religion . Also in his catalog: Soul Prison (a prequel to Soul Release, delving into the lives of two brothers on separate paths and struggling to survive), The Ring of Lucifer (told from the perspective of a well-known entity in the Christian Religion), and The Ancients and the innocent (staring a dinosaur and a penguin, who team up for a rather confusing journey).

Soul Prison is a Christian fiction novella for young and new adults written by Stephen Kunkler. When they were six and four years old respectively, Yehim and Ohno were sat down by their mother who imparted wisdom she feared she had delayed too long in sharing with them. Devils were a real and present danger; the recent attack upon a child in the village had only served to confirm her fears.

The two brothers were the image of each other, lanky and dark-haired. Yehim, being older, was somewhat taller; he also had a large scar running from his eye down to below his nose. One of the things their mother told them that day was the circumstances under which he had received that scar and the momentary lapse in judgement that had allowed it to happen. She also warned them that, although they had learned about heaven in school, not all are admitted there. The others go down to hell. The demons who’ve made the unwary their prey come from this dark place and can enslave you. Nineteen years later, Yehim and Ohno were grown men. Ohno, however, had developed an unhealthy curiosity about the SI, a group of people Yehim feared were in league with demons.

Stephen Kunkler’s Christian fiction novella for young and new adults, Soul Prison, is a dark and atmospheric tale about a young man’s quest to understand a force that he’s ultimately unable to resist, and the brother who is determined to save him. Kunkler’s characters are credible and realistic, and his plot is engaging. Kunkler’s descriptions of the community that Yehim and Ohno belong to and the foundations of their faith give this story dimension and fullness. One can’t help but care about each of the brothers and hope that they will survive the ordeal set before them. Soul Prison is highly recommended.
