Songs of the Deliverer II: Faith Wins by Elvo Fortunato Bucci is a testimonial of the works and proclamations of the Apostles of Emmanuel. Twenty years have passed since the death and resurrection of Emmanuel. A Gospel Council is formed from an elite group of his followers. United with purpose, they become witnesses of the Truth, spreading the Good News of Christ. Supported by President Neroh, Governor Herold wants to put an end to the nonsense, and silence their voice permanently. One zealot for justice emerges, a Prosecutor who will not stop until every Christian is imprisoned for treason. However, Prosecutor Paulos di Tauris’ strong-willed resolve falters when a persistent phantom voice keeps asking him “Why do you persecute Me?” One day Paulos is hit with a burst of Light, encountering the presence of Emmanuel first hand. From that moment on, he becomes a fugitive for Christ. Aligning himself with the Gospel Council, di Tauris becomes known as Paul. On the run, Paul travels from town to town as a herald of the Gospel. He is a man with a mission, determined to share his story with all who will listen.
Picking up where Songs of the Deliverer ended, Faith Wins continues to parallel the scriptures of the New Testament with a contemporary tone. Well-versed in the biblical account of the life of Christ, the power of Elvo Fortunato Bucci’s personal faith is revealed in the narrative. Bucci mimics the biblical story of Christ and his disciples with a modern day touch using creative liberties; he remixes the past into the present. The cast of characters grows through their personal relationship with Emmanuel. Some of them were eye witnesses, a friend of Emmanuel, while others believed and followed due to the story of another. The depth of each character is challenged by the persecution of their faith. The antagonists are the agents of evil to destroy the spread of Christianity. They are controlled by the malicious Antichrist spirit promoting the ageless conflict between good and evil.
One of the most pivotal points within the narrative is when the question of “What defines you?” is asked. This question is one all of us should ask ourselves on our journey of life. Who am I? Why am I here? What do I believe? Who do I follow? are all encompassed in the meaning of our lives. As the action of the story begins to descend, the reader is reminded to “Be worthy of the life you have been gifted.” Life is precious, live it to the fullest, hold fast to your convictions, be a witness of the goodness and greatness of Christ, and in the end, “Faith Wins.”
