Sleepless in New Orleans: Pet Network's Louisiana Rescue Mission by Beverly Keil is a fascinating and engaging story of a mission to relocate over 100 dogs and cats from New Orleans to Northern Nevada and Northern California. The book is a journey along with the author and other rescue workers who tried to escape Hurricane Nate, which was making their way towards them. It is not always easy to lead a rescue mission because it is difficult to find partners who are willing to participate. This book is a story of helplessness when a natural disaster occurs and when the rescue team has to reach out to overcrowded shelters housing hurricane disaster pets by bringing them to the attention of Pet Network. These distressed animals are prepared for permanent adoption by Pet Network.
From Nevada to Louisiana, the book chronicles the sacrifices made by these dedicated humans and the journey of these dogs and cats. Sleepless in New Orleans is a story of love, dedication, compassion, sacrifice, courage, endurance, kindness, and strength, and all animal lovers will find it heartwarming. The book shares pictures of the dogs and cats which are inspected, weighed, and marked for transport. The rescue operation has been shared in detail, giving readers insights about the entire operation and a strong reminder that life is precious, be it humans or animals. The topic chosen is unique and excellent because it educates a lot of readers about all the lives that were being touched by these rescue workers, and how these pets were taken care of in their temporary shelter. It is also the heartwarming story of the volunteers who played an important role in saving the lives of these cats and dogs.
