Author Biography

Darlene Quinn is an international award winning author and speaker from Long Beach, California.

Darlene writes what she likes to read, which is page-turning-suspense, based on actual events in the world of fashion department stores, while never allowing the facts to get in the way of a good story. The stand-alone Web series explores love and loss, career and family, forgiveness and redemption. Fast-paced chapters propel unforgettable characters through the turmoil of overlapping and often conflicting commitments. As part of a nine-member management team for the Bullocks Wilshire Specialty Department Stores (West Coast Division of the former Federated Department Store conglomerate ~ now Macy's Inc.) She has an insider's perspective on the rise and fall of major department stores.

Sizzling Cold Case by Buddy Ebsen and Darlene Quinn is written in the vein of the Barnaby Jones murder mystery TV series from the 1970s. In this case, Barnaby revives the cold case surrounding the mysterious death of Lori London, who has a personal connection to Barnaby and his family. While Lori's death was ruled a suicide, Barnaby refuses to believe it. He becomes his own client as he struggles to prove the young woman that he loved as a daughter did not kill herself.

True to the TV series, the Barnaby Jones in Sizzling Cold Case by Buddy Ebsen and Darlene Quinn uses logic and a keen eye for detail to solve the crime. Sizzling Cold Case is professionally written and stands out in its ability to draw the reader in and make him/her a member of the crime-solving family. The story is clean of superfluous detail that fails to move the story forward. The language is down home, and the pacing is expertly driven to guide the reader through a suspenseful ride. Narrator William E Fortier does a masterful job of telling the story in true Barnaby style. The production quality is of the highest grade, and the pacing is conversational. The only thing that would have made it better is if Buddy Ebsen himself were alive and available to narrate his own creation. Sizzling Cold Case brought back fond memories and reminded me how often a simply told story can still hold all the intrigue and creativity of a great novel.
