Sita and the Prince of Tigers by Winona Howe is a wonderful and peculiar story from the heart of India told by no one else before. It's the story of Sita, a stubborn, motherless young girl who is happy to live alone at the edge of the jungle. Thanks to her aunt, she knows how to communicate with tigers and which plants can heal various ailments and which not. One day, Sita feels a presence, and wherever she goes that presence follows her until the presence shows itself: it's the Prince of Tigers, the jungle’s ruler. The Prince assures Sita that he will not hurt her and tells her that he wants to learn from her the ways of man as she seeks to learn the ways of the jungle. Thus begins a profound bond beyond friendship and a journey that will lead to a life of purpose, happiness, great loss, and fulfillment.
Sita and the Prince of Tigers by Winona Howe is indeed a unique and special story, unlike anything I've ever read. Winona Howe has definitely mastered the art of the perfect love story in my eyes. Sita is one of the most complex and amazing characters I have ever read about. I enjoyed the connection between the characters and the writing immensely. This novel is both fascinating and poignant. The story delivers a delightful and sorrowful experience exploring death, challenges, tragedy, parenting, hope, and kindness. Sita and the Prince of Tigers is a gorgeous story to remember to stay true to yourself, wherever life may take you.
