Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is always a bad thing, but especially when you have a huge secret to hide. That is definitely the case in Siren's Secret by Debbie Herbert. After witnessing a murderer dispose of his victim as she is enjoying a swim 3 miles out at sea, Shelly Connor is spotted and almost killed by the psychopath. Unable to go to the police because of the secret she and her two cousins share - their double life as mermaids - the intrigue is compounded when Shelly and the sheriff begin an affair. Trying to find the murderer so as to pin the crime on him without letting Tillman in on the secret proves to be too difficult, considering some of the evidence points to the three women. Is it possible to love someone with such a big secret? And how much loyalty can someone show the family when their heart is on the line? In spite of all their issues, can Shelly and Tillman work together to catch a killer or will someone else beat them to justice?
Great descriptions of the Alabama beachfront add to the excitement of the story in Siren's Secret by Debbie Herbert. The action is intense and emotions are high as a centuries-old secret is threatened while a murderer runs loose in this rural area. Just when Shelly thinks she has found love, things get complicated and threaten a blossoming relationship. The interactions are realistic and the characters are distinct and well developed so that you feel as though you are right in the action. This is a great paranormal story that keeps you hoping for love to win!
