Sink by Steve Daniels is based on a true story. Deep in the Florida Everglades, a team of cave divers and scientists are all set to examine a new sinkhole that has just been discovered. They are looking for relics of the past, but things are not quite what they seem to be. Their first dive turns up relics that are ancient but there are strange things afoot – a giant alligator that appears out of nowhere, skulls that move of their own accord, chanting and drumming heard. And then there’s the mysterious planes and cars that turn out to be part of a drug smuggling ring. What should have been a peaceful two weeks of diving for historical artifacts turns into a fight for survival as they are surrounded by murder, seemingly corrupt police officers and the FBI, as well as the man who owns the land. Where did the alligator come from? Who is really involved in the smuggling ring and who isn’t what they first appear to be? All this adds up to a story of intrigue.

Sink by Steve Daniels was a fascinating story, made all the more interesting by the fact that it was based on a true story. I found it to be reasonably well written and the characters were likeable. It was an easy read but one that kept me in its grip until the end. It wasn’t a long story but I think it was about the right length - enough to keep you reading but not so long that you lost interest. Good story, I would recommend it.
