Single Action by Jim Williams involves corrupt politicians, gambling, the mob, and how everyone wants to control everything. It also highlights those who try to make the world a better place and how they are suppressed at every turn. The author has written a fast-moving detective, crime, and political story. The reader’s attention is caught from the very first opening paragraph to the last. The author does not sugarcoat the action or how the murders are committed; all the actions, murders, and crimes are described in great detail. These scenes are interspersed throughout the story and give the reader a good chance to catch their breath between each action and drama scene.
Single Action by Jim Williams takes place in the year 1966 between October and November. The reader will think that the story takes place over a longer period of time when the final page arrives, but it is just two months. The main character is Johnny Dolan, with Gil Petersen who both work for a TV news station. There are more characters that take the reader through the story as it unfolds - Sal Caputo, Bunny Ennis, Detective Al Miller Captain Gentner, Nick Patrokas, Brian Toth, Jerry Coyne Charles Sadler, Don Carmine San Fillips, are but a few that help unravel the story about how computers and programming can get a person killed. This is a very well-written crime and detective novel and well worth the read, especially as it has so many twists and turns, and the twist at the end is certainly not what the reader will be expecting. Thank you to the author for a nail-biting read; it was greatly appreciated.
