While undergoing the ritual to be transformed into an avatar, something happens and the ritual isn’t completed. The temple is attacked, but savant Liandra Kergatha escapes. The problem is, she has no memories of her former life. Her loss of memory and identity keeps her away from Hecate’s radar for a while, but how long will it be before her skills are discovered and the goddess is drawn to her again? But there is so much more at stake in this story than the will of a goddess to incarnate a human body.
Shadow of the Avatar by Will Greenway features compelling characters and a conflict that involves powerful immortal and mortal characters. It’s interesting to watch the transformation taking place within the main character and the journey she makes through her development over ten years. Liandra Kergatha (Wren) is a very symbolic character and her life could communicate the message that we are all on a journey towards ourselves, towards our origins. As one reads this epic story, one wants to know if the protagonist will discover her birthright and if she can take full control of her destiny. The writing is magical and the author succeeds in creating the kind of world that will draw readers in irresistibly.
