Lady Mairi has been trained by her father to assume the role of Baroness. She is her father’s heir. In an effort to force Lord Dunwythie to submit to the Maxwell clan. Robert Maxwell kidnaps Mairi. He doesn`t plan to fall in love with her but could not help himself. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he was attracted to her. Both Mairi and Robert fight the attraction but eventually admit their love. Their clans are on the verge of war, can Mairi and Robert prevent bloodshed?
What could be better than a highlander romance? This is a delightful love story that seems reasonably true to the era. I enjoyed every page and read it without pause. Mairi is the prim and proper woman of the time period. She found Robert aggravating, as well as attractive. Together they were a fascinating couple. There were a lot of characters to keep up with. This book is a fictional depiction of an actual event.
