Secrets Never End by Dave Lager is a captivating and action-packed crime novel. I could not read this page-turner fast enough; I was too afraid I would miss something. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what would happen next and was guessing until the end. Every event was described in detail, and it was easy to lose myself in Ro’s world. I was hooked from the start until the very end and could not put it down. The characters were authentic and relatable. Ro was not your standard policewoman, which was interesting and refreshing. She was family-oriented and did everything possible to help her brother. The story is a well-written and enjoyable read. Several stories were woven together, which laid the foundation for a sequel to this book.

This book is part of a series and should be read as such, although I found it easy enough to follow as a standalone. I love a strong lead character, male or female, and I’m seeing more and more female-led stories these days. This novel is full of heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat action that will keep you reading long into the night – you won’t want to put it down in case you miss something! All the characters are well-developed, likable, relatable people you feel you could really get to know. This is compelling reading, descriptive in a way that draws you in, and while it is a serious crime thriller, it also has a fun, adventurous element that unfolds throughout. I enjoyed this book and will definitely go back to the start of the series to get the full picture. I look forward to what’s coming next.
