Stan Smith has lived most of his life in the Midwest United States and currently resides in Warrensburg, Missouri. He writes adventure novels that have a generous sprinkling of science fiction. Savage by Stan C. Smith is an exciting adventure that takes place in 1868, Dutch New Guinea. Samuel Inwood is a naturalist and is fascinated with the research of Alfred Russell Wallace on the Papuan cultures. After meeting Wallace, Samuel executes his dream and makes the excursion himself. Leaving London, his family, and fiancée behind, Samuel embarks on a four-year expedition to Dutch New Guinea. His first encounter with an indigenous tribe is precarious. Having taken the advice of Wallace and the captain of the ship he sailed on, Samuel is allowed to stay with the restive tribe, at a price. Having settled Samuel's living situation, the captain sails off and doesn't plan to return for another three years. Living with the unpredictable natives proves to be risky and uncertain. As a result of the chief's deviousness, Samuel finds himself a captive of another indigenous tribe. When he is at the point of death, something otherworldly and incomprehensible occurs that astounds him and his executioners. Astonished and confounded by the event, the natives let him live. Although Samuel's life is spared, he is now facing a potentially dangerous and powerful conundrum. This matter in the wrong hands could very well bring an end to the world. Is he capable of keeping his morality and intentions pure or will he bring destruction to the earth?
Savage by Stan C. Smith is astounding, an enthralling adventure written in the form of a journal. It is a captivating rendition of a field notebook written in the language of the late nineteenth century with astounding accuracy. The story is so fascinating and realistic that I had to remind myself that it is fiction. The book is based on and adapted from real life research from that era. Even though it is fiction, the premise of the novel is factual and is historically accurate. This is a well-written adventure novel with a science-fiction inclusion. It is similar to Michael Crichton's works and will delight readers who enjoy suspenseful adventures with authentic scientific foundations. In addition to his marvelous work, the author has included a bibliography of his research.
