Sanctuary is the first book in the Academy for Lost Souls series by S. K. Gregory. After being accused of murdering the Alpha's abusive son within the grounds of the Baton Rouge pack, Jade runs for her life and seeks sanctuary at Crestwood Academy - a school for young paranormals that is hidden from the human eye. Although Jade is unsure if she'd committed the murder, she is granted sanctuary and enrolled, with Harold Tempest-Stewart as her Mentor. Jade is quickly acquainted with Aaron, Louis, Holly, Kol, and Seb and once again becomes unsure of her lycan side, which takes full control when students start dying. It is not long before Jade realizes that she can trust those she didn't, and should watch her back with the new friends she makes. After Jade's new boyfriend agrees to help her get answers, more bodies drop before Jade discovers the identity of the killer. It is only through the use of her newly learned skills at Crestwood Academy that she lives to tell the tale.
I very much look forward to what lies ahead for young Jade in this wonderful new series, Academy for Lost Souls by S. K. Gregory. The characters are interesting and new, which was truly a breath of fresh air. I am a sucker for a well-written paranormal tale and Sanctuary definitely hit the nail on the head in delivering a mystery within a mystery. Not even the main character knows whether or not she is the killer throughout the first installment until she starts listening to her own instincts. I must admit that this is the first time I have come across a were-tale that shows the pack as total butt-holes, but Jade's intuition about them comes full circle when she uses this to her advantage. Thank you, S. K. Gregory, for the beginning of a remarkable new series, and I am excited to read the next installment when it is available. I fully recommend Sanctuary to all avid fans of good lycanthropic tales.
