Rough Justice by Burt Weissbourd is the stunning sequel to his first book, Danger in Plain Sight. It follows the story of Callie James, the owner of a restaurant called The Bronze Pig, and her bartender, Cash Logan. The book is set in places like modern-day Seattle, Malibu, and New York. Callie and Logan have unexpectedly become closer to each other, and they realize that, against all odds, they are wildly in love. However, their world turns around when half-Algerian, 25-year-old Sara, appears in their lives. Someone is trying to murder her and has stolen her identity. She seeks their help to survive. Callie, Logan, and other characters like Andre and Itzac embark on a journey to save Sara and their own lives. Will the group win against the evil forces before being crushed themselves?
Rough Justice by Burt Weissbourd is an incredibly well-written book with a strong cast of characters and a terrific plotline. The story is set in several places, giving the narration an exciting tone. It presents interesting imagery, allowing readers to be directly transported to the busy streets of New York one moment and the heat of Cuba the next. That is the power of words. The characters are crafted with care, and each brings something distinct to the narration. Cash adds a thrilling aspect to the story, while Callie is the responsible, independent woman running her own business. The relationship between Callie and Cash gives the story a real punch and makes readers feel a connection to them.
This novel contains vivid action scenes that hold the reader's interest and the dramatic plot twists keep one wanting more beyond the last page. The dialogues are cleverly curated, and the narrative style is adept, which helps retain the plotline's flow. Overall, I enjoyed this thrilling, action-packed novel. I suggest this title to those more inclined toward crime action with an element of romance in it.
