Ride or Die by AJ Lape is a sometimes humorous crime fiction story, the first in the Darcy Walker Investigations series. Working the night beat for the LAPD, Darcy Walker is still a rookie but this job was just made for her. She thrives on adrenaline and hates following rules but follow them she must. When Fat Tony, a Vegas mobster, arranges someone to kidnap her and a reality TV star dies, she has to fight the urge to set off on her own investigation. But she fails and goes against direct orders to set up her own secret vice op masquerading as a TV series. The detectives see her as nothing more than an interference but she’s not about to give up – ride or die, that’s the motto she lives by and nothing will stop her from doing things her way.
Ride or Die by AJ Lape is a sometimes funny, sometimes downright scary crime thriller. The primary character, Darcy Walker, is a heroine in the eyes of many, a strong female lead with her own ideas and thoughts. She has many quirks that will endear her to most readers, have them rooting for her all the way, and she is a real person that you get to know well throughout the story. There is a lot of action here right from the word go, and plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing all the time. I love the Stephanie Plum series and this book put me right back there, in the thick of it with some fantastic characters with a great plotline. If you love crime stories with a difference, this one is for you.
