Receive Me Falling weaves back and forth between present day and the past. The prologue gives a few haunting paragraphs describing the death of a slave. The woman had jumped from a cliff into the dark, turbulent, rocky waters below.

Meg and Brian are engaged to be married. Their engagement party was lavished. Meg stepped out to get a breath of fresh air and heard a woman's scream in the distance. That evening Megan dreamed of water and rain. The phone call came early in the morning just as two police officers knock on her door. There had been an accident. Her parents were dead.

While going through her parents things she discovered they owned a great deal of land on the Caribbean island of Nevis. They had a mansion named Eden. Postponing the wedding Megan traveled to Nevis. Could Megan's father be a thief?

In the past we relive the story of the slaves and Catherine. The plantation owners lived an opulent life. The slaves often prefer death to their quality of life. The abolitionist have come to the island but the plantations owners resisted the notion of releasing their slaves. Catherine is kind hearted and thinks she is in control. Her father has turned the plantation over to an overseer, Phinneas. Phinneas is cruel and enjoys dishing out punishment. Catherine and Leah have a disagreement. Leah dies, is it an accident, suicide or murder.

Receiving Me Falling started out strong but had trouble holding my attention all the way through. The plot is interesting. The characters lacked depth that would make me care.
