Whether you’re an adult or child jokester, Punny Jokes To Tell Your Peeps (Book 2) by Lisa Ayotte will keep your brain whirling as you try to think of a punny answer to a clue like “What has four wheels and can fly?” You might just smack your own head and think “Duh...of course” when you read the correct response, but what fun you will have trying to figure out the answers to the 32 hysterical jokes in this book, one of a series of six. I found myself laughing out loud on many of them while simultaneously berating myself, a pun addict, for being so slow in finding a funny, punny response. How does Lisa Ayotte do it?
While Covid-19 continues to keep entire families quarantined, it’s so difficult to find a way to keep children occupied and it comforts children to be sharing good, fun time with both mom and dad. A book like those in the Punny Jokes To Tell Your Peeps series is the perfect family pastime. Not only are the beautifully rendered colored photos a feast for the eyes -- younger children will love concentrating on all the items in those pictures -- but the challenge of coming up with the correct punchline to a joke like “What was the Turkey thankful for on Thanksgiving” makes for some friendly family competition. This is a great way to stretch brains. What would be most interesting is seeing who’s better...adults or children...at coming up with the right answer.
But even more stimulating might be seeing who can come up with an answer that works as well as, or maybe even better than those supplied by the author. This would make for a marvelous classroom activity once schools are back in session. And one of the best side effects of working through a book like this is that you find yourself coming away trying to think up more punny jokes to share with others. Can’t think of any? Well, as I said in my opening, this book is one of six punny books by Lisa Ayotte. If the family reads them all, you can add “pundit” to your list of achievements. By the way, have you figured out the correct answers to the two punny jokes I shared above? Have fun!
