Private L.A., by James Patterson and Mark T. Sullivan, is a heart in the throat, mind-boggling, grasp your seat, action packed book. Once you start you can’t let it go, and yes the main couple made me think of Brad and Angelina, or in this story, Tom and Jennifer. We have two main stories going on here, and a third in the background with Jack’s brother. Nothing is ever as it appears, or so it seems when delving into this book. Poor Justine, Jack’s right hand girl is now suffering from Post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD], and who wouldn’t with what happens to her. It rather makes you think of what our soldiers have been facing when they return home from the war zone.
You will begin to wonder how anyone survives by the end of this book, there is so much action, and a lot of senseless killing, and it does come down to greed. This seems to be what the two primary themes are built on. First, non-existent people, huh? You will find out, oh yes, and people with no value of human life. The other is based on compassion, and doing good in the name of humanity, and yet is it all as it appears?
We meet the adopted children of Tom and Jennifer, and their devoted staff, and wonder what is wrong with this perfect picture? Something is very shocking and sad. I love how, as the story unfolds, some of the tables become turned. So, if you're ready for a very action packed adventure and some serious situations, don’t miss this one. You feel like you are the one on the Pier, racing in a fast car, and being shot at various times. Enjoy!
