Poisoned in Provence by Cat Green is a Nina Brown Paranormal Cozy Mystery. Thanks to Nina's job, she and her roommate Holly have been given a free vacation to Provence. Nina arrives ready to enjoy gorgeous scenery, the delicious food at the chef competition, and perhaps find a love connection with the handsome Jacques. The two friends are in for the trip of a lifetime until the competition judge is poisoned and Nina's charming new acquaintance receives the blame. Believing in his innocence, she uses her sixth sense to find the real culprit.
Nina and Holly are a delightful duo who immediately bring charm to the tone through their genuine dynamic and their friendship is at the heart of the story. Each has a quirky personality that complements the other with Nina's sixth sense that allows her to perceive things differently and Holly's talent for designing doggy fashions. The south of France provides a lovely backdrop with details that create images of an ideal paradise. Cat Green weaves food imagery into the background through details such as a bright green sprig of fresh thyme and snails and sea snakes that thrive as coveted delicacies. The enjoyable mystery is balanced with supernatural elements seen through Nina's special gift, which gives her an edge when investigating. Nina's trip to France isn't without romance as she meets the charming Jacques - who happens to need her help when he's accused of poisoning the judge and is the catalyst that draws her to get involved in the mystery. A charming mystery that takes place within a gorgeous setting, Poisoned in Provence delightfully blends lush details, a dash of the supernatural, delicious food, and romance.
