Picco Puppy Loves Soccer is a children’s picture book written by Michael Wong and illustrated by Arkhan Studio. This book is based on the true and inspirational story of a boy who overcame his challenges and finally succeeded in scoring a goal -- in the sixteenth game of the season. Picco Puppy was excited to be playing soccer with his friends at the park, but he’d never played before. When everyone starts running after the ball, Picco just stands there. His mom suggests that he try running like the other kids, but Picco runs slowly and gets tired easily. Will he ever be able to play like the rest of them?
Michael Wong’s inspirational picture book for children, Picco Puppy Loves Soccer, charts the progress Picco makes as he strives to run, kick and score a goal. Some kids are naturally gifted at sports; others have to work a bit harder. Wong’s story tells kids that it’s okay to not be the best right away. The key is to keep on trying to do your best, and Picco does just that. He doesn’t get discouraged and keeps on trying. The result? He becomes a champion! Wong’s story will resonate with many kids, even those who run fast and are strong without effort. Everyone has something they struggle with. Arkhan Studio’s illustrations are brightly colored and cheerful, and they work perfectly with this upbeat and motivational story. Don’t forget to try the math puzzle at the end of the story and visit the link provided for coloring opportunities. Picco Puppy Loves Soccer is most highly recommended.
