Perfectly Played: Love & Alliteration by Holly Kerr is a story of love lost and love found in Las Vegas. It is a very delightful romantic romp. Flora is the bride walking down the aisle toward Thomas, when she realizes that he is not the right man for her and she is suddenly in the role of runaway bride. Dean is waiting at the chapel when he receives a text from Evelyn that she no longer wants to get married and will not be arriving. What are the odds of Flora and Dean both being at the same place at the same time under the same conditions? Slim to none. However, this is exactly what happens, and though upset, they both feel an unusual connection. The story continues as Flora and Dean each tell their story and we, the readers, share in the ups, downs, mishaps, friendships and humor of their relationship.
I really enjoyed the romance of Perfectly Played, Flora and Dean’s courtship, and the weird and somewhat unbelievable Evelyn and Thomas. The story moved along very quickly, and although the outcome was predictable, how it got there was a great plot. The backup players and the dog made for added enjoyment and added spice and romance as well. I was pleased that the sex was only inferred and that I did not have to read through all of the details. Holly Kerr has a real gift for writing a fun romantic tale and though this the first book I have read by her, it will most certainly not be the last. If you enjoy romance with a twist, then you will love Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr.
