In Peke-A-Boo! Find The Ball That’s Blue by Wendy Zambrana, we are introduced to a pretty dog named Samantha. Carefree and liking to play, Samantha especially loved her blue ball among all her other toys. Sometimes, her favorite ball goes missing and it’s up to us to find it. One time it disappeared while she slept. Another time she came down the stairs to find it gone. When she’s distracted by pets and belly rubs, her blue ball goes missing. While playing outside in the tall grass, Samantha can’t find her ball. Once she didn’t even want to eat at lunchtime. All the dog wanted was her blue ball and it was nowhere to be found. Samantha is sad that her ball isn’t around. What she doesn’t know was that her favorite ball was frayed so it was tossed into the trash. She isn’t upset for long, because her humans bought her a shiny brand new one that Samantha even plays with in her dreams.

I thought Peke-A-Boo! Find The Ball That’s Blue was an adorable and entertaining read. Children love stories about animals and this children’s book went beyond just the story to include a search game that will be sure to keep their attention. The main character is a sweet black and white dog named Samantha that the young reader will surely love. Like most kids and some animals, Samantha has a favorite toy that she loves to take everywhere. When her favorite blue ball goes missing, the young audience could relate thinking about that one time they couldn’t find a favorite toy of their own. To add to the tale, the illustrations are beautifully done and fit perfectly with the storyline. Overall, I think Wendy Zambrana has done a wonderful job and I can’t wait to see what else she writes.

This book was written and illustrated in such a way that it took us through the journey of Sam as she attempts to locate her blue ball..... to be honest I had trouble at times trying to find it too. This was an amazing way to spend time away from screen and with family.
