Peck - A Little Lovebird Takes Flight is a children’s animal picture book written by Remi Nicole and illustrated by Mabel Chong. Peck had given up on finding love in his native land of Australia, so he decided to travel to other lands in search of his special mate. Being a single lovebird was not at all fun for him. He hopped on board an airplane and disembarked a short time later on a sandy beach. It was lovely, and, being tired, he headed for a shell he'd noticed and thought he’d use as a shelter for a nap. The tired bird was soon horrified to discover that a crab was living under that shell, and the sharp pinch Peck received was enough to dissuade him from staying there any longer. There were many other places in this new land for Peck to explore and, just maybe, he would find his mate.
Remi Nicole’s children’s animal picture book, Peck - A Little Lovebird Takes Flight, is a humorous tale about a plucky little lovebird who travels the world in search of his mate. This time he lands in Madagascar, and he and the reader get to meet some of the animals who live there. I’ve followed Peck during his previous adventures in Peck: A Lonely, Little Lovebird Down Under and was thrilled to be exploring new lands along with the stalwart little bird. Mabel Chong’s illustrations are cheerful and brilliantly colored, and they really help to make Peck’s adventures come to life. Where will Peck travel to next? I’m waiting to find out. Peck - A Little Lovebird Takes Flight entertains as it teaches kids about the animals we share our planet with. It’s most highly recommended.
