On Saturday mornings, Pancake Dad always makes pancakes for his family. These mornings are great because Pancake Dad gets to spend time with his children while his wife gets much-needed rest. Dad uses this time to connect with his kids and find out what's going on in each of their lives. They also have a Saturday morning challenge where they all say the scripture verses they learned during the week. Pancake Dad is a very important part of his family.

What a cute book. There is a lot to like in this story by Ken Gordon. A dad is willing to spend part of his weekend getting to know his kids better and asking about things going on in their lives. This dad is teaching his children to memorize scripture and how to help in the kitchen. But the thing I like best is that the dad tells his children how they should treat their mom because she works so hard doing things for them all. The whole book is so heartwarming. The beautiful and unique illustrations by Dorethea Taylor bring the story to life in a charming way. The illustrations on each page fit magnificently with the words on the page.

Pancake Dad by Ken Gordon is a book full of fun and valuable lessons. It is a must for your child's library, and church, school, and daycare libraries. I think Pancake Dad would fit well with any doctor or dentist's office as well. I encourage you to check this sweet little book out. You will not be disappointed. I am really impressed with this adorable book.

Family time is so important for both parents (guardians) and children. In this busy world, making time for just a family fun activity can be a challenge. But Kristian, Leah, and Griffin’s dad makes Saturday mornings a special time. While Mom sleeps in after a busy week, Dad makes pancakes with the children. They share stories, laughter, learn Bible verses, and they even do a little math as they calculate the ingredients needed for each part of their weekly pancake breakfast. Then, once ready, they serve Mom breakfast in bed before sitting down for a delicious pancake breakfast with Dad. Not only is it a learning time, but it’s quality family time with phones and laptops tucked away for a while.

Ken Gordon’s picture book story, Pancake Dad, is a touching story that encourages families to come together even if it is only for that one special meal each week. In this story, the author introduces a creative working environment, positive memories and so much more and cleverly includes a little bit of math and Bible learning. It’s also a time to share things each child has done during the week. The language is simple, with lots of dialogue to help young readers follow along and improve their reading skills. The illustrations are bright and colorful and help carry the story forward. The message shared is clear: family time is important to provide children with a positive environment and a role model to look up to – in this case, a loving and interested father. Pancake Dad is a touching and heartwarming family story; a real treasure.

Pancake Dad, written by Ken Gordon with illustrations by Dorethea Taylor, is an adorable story about a dad spending time with his children by making breakfast with them and teaching them the principles of Christianity. Quality time like this means family bonding, and it's fun getting to know the dad, mom, and children. The illustrations are cute, and so is the natural-sounding dialogue. Making breakfast as a family creates lasting memories, and this story is a good way to show positive interactions in a family: a great bedtime story or morning story. Besides showing good examples of father/children interactions, you will find lessons of sharing responsibilities, good communication, and having fun together. One of my favorite parts is where the dad disconnects from his cellphone in favor of family time.

Ken Gordon has his finger on the pulse of what it means to share meaningful moments with a family and the impact a dad can have on his children. This simple story has a profound message: busy dads can and should make time to be with their kids. This is part of a "Dad" series, and young readers can look forward to more fun and family time. As you read Pancake Dad to your children, it may prompt you to have talks with them about how important it is to spend time together. This reassuring book serves as an example and a light to guide parents and their children alike in ways to bond, grow, and learn from one another while doing a fun activity like breakfast. Children will also have the opportunity to count along with the family members. And, although a dad takes center stage in this story, the mom is featured nicely, as she is served breakfast in bed for working so hard through the week. Pancake Dad by Ken Gordon is a win-win children's Christian storybook.
