Origins by S. Faxon follows the story of Owen, a young dragon from the Blue Dragon clan, who finally has the chance to prove himself through his first mission. Owen and his brother Lann set off on a mission to help humans face a threat even worse than the plague; vampires. Not knowing anything about this new foe, the brothers are sent to gather information on this new enemy; however, the two become intertwined in a bigger scheme than they may realize. Owen must put aside his prejudice to help not only the humans but a few unlikely companions they meet on their journey.
Origins by S. Faxon was exciting and intriguing with the mix of dragons, demons, vampires, and witches. Seeing this odd combination of creatures in a novel was definitely interesting but I love how Faxon manages to mingle this odd bunch of characters together. I especially love seeing the character development in Owen as he comes across as very childish and naïve at the beginning of the novel. However, you see him mature with each interaction he has with the other characters. It was also nice seeing the relationship between the two brothers get better as they were forced to handle various challenges together. Overall, this novel has a wonderful plot which was beautifully written with a good cast of characters to tie it all together. It is simply a good book, one which easily finds itself among my favorites in terms of new books.
