Call Dee a people pleaser or Miss Goody Two Shoes, and you wouldn’t be wrong. But that’s by the way. Jack, her nephew, locked her up in a chest when she was little, making her suffer from anxiety. And after she had a car accident, the panic heightened. Dee lived every day waiting for the next worst thing to happen. She had a boyfriend, Marc, whom she loved and wished to marry, but he never proposed. Also, Dee’s car kept gulping down money for one repair or another. Her dad threatened to sell it unless she got a job. When the gulf in her relationship kept widening and jobs weren’t forthcoming, Dee was most miserable. Will she get her happily ever after? Find out in One Other Love by Claire Nance.
One Other Love by Claire Nance is the third book in The Lindell High School Series. The novel was a fantastic page-turner, perfect for young adults, featuring themes like self-esteem, self-awareness, faith, love, and family. I loved the plot, which was unique and brilliant. The storyline was realistic, had depth, and killed the proverbial couple of birds with one stone. Claire told a powerful story with relatable characters that shed light on the clinical manifestation of anxiety. In a world where mental health issues often carry a religious undertone, I loved their independent coexistence in this story. Claire also showed in this novel that love supports focus and growth instead of draining emotions. And at last, faith is the ultimate, for He maketh all things beautiful in His time. Excellent job, Claire!
