Call Dee a people pleaser or Miss Goody Two Shoes, and you wouldn’t be wrong. But that’s by the way. Jack, her nephew, locked her up in a chest when she was little, making her suffer from anxiety. And after she had a car accident, the panic heightened. Dee lived every day waiting for the next worst thing to happen. She had a boyfriend, Marc, whom she loved and wished to marry, but he never proposed. Also, Dee’s car kept gulping down money for one repair or another. Her dad threatened to sell it unless she got a job. When the gulf in her relationship kept widening and jobs weren’t forthcoming, Dee was most miserable. Will she get her happily ever after? Find out in One Other Love by Claire Nance.

One Other Love by Claire Nance is the third book in The Lindell High School Series. The novel was a fantastic page-turner, perfect for young adults, featuring themes like self-esteem, self-awareness, faith, love, and family. I loved the plot, which was unique and brilliant. The storyline was realistic, had depth, and killed the proverbial couple of birds with one stone. Claire told a powerful story with relatable characters that shed light on the clinical manifestation of anxiety. In a world where mental health issues often carry a religious undertone, I loved their independent coexistence in this story. Claire also showed in this novel that love supports focus and growth instead of draining emotions. And at last, faith is the ultimate, for He maketh all things beautiful in His time. Excellent job, Claire!

As her car expenses keep mounting, Dee Anderson has to find a paying summer job during an uncertain economic state. But that is not the only thing on her mind. With three diaries that document her past tumultuous romantic relationships, Dee is afraid of being too happy in case something happens and spoils her current relationship. Things between her and Marc Easton are going great until he abruptly decides that they need to spend some time apart. Dee is left confused. While she tries to make sense of everything that has happened between her and Marc, her ex-boyfriend, Slate, enters the scene. Dee weighs up the options of letting him back into her life or waiting for God’s timing.

One Other Love (The Lindell High School Series Book 3) by Claire Nance is a 1970s teen romance with inspiring faith-based themes. Claire Nance develops a convincing character who is flawed and is sometimes uncertain which makes her easy to relate to. The book adopts a moderate, pleasant pace while exploring Dee’s feelings in each relationship and it is written in Dee’s voice so it will appeal to young adult readers. I also loved that One Other Love includes Dee’s female friendships which adds other absorbing sub-plots to the main storyline. It also explores themes such as faith, happiness, and self-worth that are relevant to its potential audience. I found the messages in One Other Love by Claire Nance uplifting and practical.

One Other Love by Claire Nance is the third novel in The Lindell High School Series. The year is 1971, and Dee Anderson now has a car she calls Charlie. She badly needs a job to help pay for repair bills on Charlie, or her dad will be selling her beloved car. She has also found a pair of silver goblets for her wedding reception, but who will be the groom? Slate is now out of the picture, and she is going steady with Marc. After seven months with Marc, he decides he needs more space, which throws Dee into a fit of anxiety, thinking she's not good enough for anyone. Dee needs to trust God with her life, but will she?

I enjoyed another visit to Lindell High School with Dee Anderson, her friends, and her new boyfriend, Marc. I did like Marc at first, but then he changed, and I wasn't fond of the changes. Dee is a nice girl, but she was frustrating at times because she kept dwelling on her past, which brought on much of her anxiety problems. Claire Nance does another amazing job of writing this sweet teen romance, with characters who stay with you long after reading the book. The storyline goes smoothly, making this an easy read. I appreciate Nance writing Christian fiction that appeals to teen girls, and I like the way she weaves the Christian life into everyday living. I feel this is a real need today. If you have a teenage girl or if you know any, One Other Love by Claire Nance would be a great gift. In fact, I encourage you to check out the whole Lindell High School Series.
