The setting is 1899 Arkansas Territory. Micah Albright, a retired U.S. Marshall, has “One Last Chase” left in him. Suffering from cancer he has yet to let any of his family know. He receives a telegram from his doctor in Little Rock saying that he needs to see him. He soon discovers that it was a setup and there must be trouble at the ranch. Returning home as fast as he can, he discovers his son-in-law shot, his best hired hand murdered, and his only granddaughter Addie and her best friend Lucinda kidnapped. When the kidnapper was described to Micah, he knew exactly who he was after and where he was headed. Now the chase is on.

With his ranch hand Jed working with him, they stay on the trail. Finding Lucinda hidden in a cave very ill but still alive, he knows she was put there to slow him down. As the pain worsens from his cancer, there is only one thing on his mind before the cancer finally kills him: bring Addie home. But just who managed to get Nathan Priest out of prison and who hired him to kidnap Addie? To complicate matters his daughter now is also on the trail of her dad to bring him and Addie home. Will she get there in time before something happens to both of them?

This book is very hard to put down. As danger lurks around each mountain peak or just across the river, the reader has to keep reading to see what will happen next. This book would make a great movie. If you like the old western genre with a touch of suspense to it then you will enjoy One Last Chase.
