As the title suggests, On The Sauce: A Cautionary Tale of Being Burned by the Pizza Industry by Liz Van Pay is a tale of how you can become entangled in workplace bullying. When Liz walked into the office for the first time, she thought she had landed her dream job. It wasn't long, however, before she became aware that all was not what it seemed. Her boss, Randy, did not play by the rules or the law. Liz becomes embroiled in a job that expects her to go along with the shadiness of the business. She is forced to go against her values and beliefs to keep her job. When she starts to ask questions, she finds that no one is there to support her. She discovers her narcissistic boss can dish out severe punishments to anyone who crosses him. This book will give anyone who is faced with workplace harassment the hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel and the encouragement and self-belief that you can emerge on the other side with strength and dignity.
On The Sauce by Liz Van Pay is an incredible story of courage and survival of horrific harassment and persecution. The author has managed to capture the terrible working conditions extremely well. Her characters are very realistic and three-dimensional. Randy is a total psychopath and the way he manipulates everyone in the office is blood-curdling. He mentally controls every situation and every employee to his own benefit, and makes sure every order is obeyed without question. This book is very well written and an absolute page turner due to the suspense within the real life story. This is a fantastic book for anyone who is experiencing workplace stress because of bullying by a manager. It is an inspirational story that proves there is always a way out, there is no need to suffer, there are other jobs but only one of you. Liz Van Pay is living proof that you can escape and look forward to a brighter future.
