On the Other Side by Teuta Metra concerns Rita Hana from Albania. After her mother's death, Rita's life changed. Her father remarried, and his new wife did not want Rita in her home. Rita's boyfriend Samuel was the only person she had left, but Samuel was on his way to London to study. He promised Rita that they would start a new life together in London. Rita became concerned when she heard nothing from Samuel and decided to go to London to look for him. Rita was aware that it would be difficult to enter the country. There was a stigma attached to people from Albania and Rita could only enter London illegally or with false documents. Rita had no idea what was in store for her during her journey.
On the Other Side was action-packed and the excitement began in the first chapter. The plot was original and effortlessly executed. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. With all the twists and turns, Teuta Metra made sure that I could never guess what would happen next. I could not put the book down and just kept turning the pages. The story was fast-paced with a surprise around every corner. The characters were authentic and relatable and they could be anyone I know. My favorite character was Rita. She was strong, and it took courage to leave everything behind and go to a country where she knew she would not be welcome. The growing romance was refreshing amidst all the drama. The story was well-written and exciting and far exceeded my expectations.
