Her vivid depictions captured and clarify the cultural nuances of the diverse cast and the settings of the scenes. The suffering and oppression of the North Koreans are heart-wrenching. The words allowed me to experience the characters' emotions. This coupled with their characteristics and the author's use of introspection made it easy for me to connect with them. There is suspense, adventure, humor, thrill, and so much more in this compelling read.
