I fell in love with Stacie M. Arguello's children's book, Ojor. The main character on the front cover is a true hook. A thirsty, drying planet sends out a call for help. Finally, a red ball appears in the sky. Ojor is here. Is she the needed help the planet asks for? Even Ojor doesn't know why she's there. But before she can determine that, a storm begins. Evil lightning and tons of rain send Ojor seeking shelter. The first shelter is too low and Ojor must use determination, faith, and hope to find a safer haven. Poor Ojor feels all alone. Wait! What did Ojor see? How does it help heal the planet? Answers come in all shapes and colors and both Ojor and the planet live happily ever after.
What amazing artwork and a lovable character! Ojor by Stacie M. Arguello is destined for a best reader's list. The planet's struggle as well as Ojor's share the theme of never giving up and working together with others. Ojor's hilarious antics begin with her arrival on the planet and keep the reader engaged. The reader's emotions will also be evoked during the struggle on the planet. A surprise ending will leave the reader satisfied and smiling. Readers of all ages will love the story. Ojor would also be a great book to add to a school counselor's supply. I highly recommend this book for a classroom setting as well as a time when a parent and child share a special moment together.
