Nimbus is penned by author David A. Hirsch in the thriller, action, and adventure genres, and is the first novel in the Calvin Kaplan series. The plot follows washed-up journalist Calvin Kaplan through a gripping, suspenseful edge-of-your-seat terrorist thriller. After a near-death experience reveals his pre-birth agreement to prevent World War III, Calvin, now unemployed, stumbles upon a major story involving stolen weapons-grade plutonium, a renegade nuclear scientist, a kidnapped geophysicist, and a high-level national security cabal. Teaming up with a U.S. Navy SEAL team, Calvin embarks on a perilous journey spanning Long Island, Thrace, and Washington, D.C. as the fate of civilization hangs in the balance.

Author David A. Hirsch has crafted a pulse-pounding journey through a world teetering on the brink of catastrophe, with an enjoyably complex web of intrigue where each chapter unveils new layers of suspense and danger. The pace and construction of the plot were absolutely solid and well thought out so every twist and turn keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The plot leaves room for us to consider events and put some of the pieces together for ourselves, with excellent exposition delivered naturally through dialogue to drive those brilliant revelations home. The stakes couldn't be higher as Calvin races against time to thwart a threat that could spell the end of civilization. Hirsch's vivid storytelling and intricate plot challenge Calvin and push him beyond his limits so that we are desperately rooting for his survival and success. The result is a gripping thriller that feels chillingly real, echoing the uncertainties of our modern world. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Nimbus for fans of white-knuckle thrillers packed to the brim with intrigue and danger.
