My Life Poetically: The Autobiography Of MzStory by Nakisha Lester is the heartfelt and poignant story of the author; a story about pain, struggle, trauma, patience, perseverance, hope, and healing. She speaks about her life with her siblings Lauren, Jayden, and Tim, and her mother while growing up on the streets of Hartford, CT. Money was scarce and they were always low on food. The only father she knew, her stepdad, was always in and out of jail, and this autobiography chronicles her life, ranging from child abuse to rape to motherhood to attempting suicide, and death. The book also looks into her experiences in an aesthetic manner and how she turned the tables and finally found the path to self-discovery and healing.
Nakisha Lester's story is inspiring and uplifting and it gives positive and optimistic messages to readers about living their lives without any regrets, loving God, and allowing themselves to be loved. The memoir will also encourage readers to discover their purpose in life and love themselves. My Life Poetically is honest, straightforward, and raw; her story is real and many readers will be able to connect with her life story and experiences. What motivates readers is how Nakisha Lester took control of a life that was toxic, mentally draining, and physically unsustainable, and how she found an outlet to heal herself and wanted to help heal others too. The memoir presentation is different; the author expresses herself in a poetic and aesthetic manner, adding creativity to her experiences and the book.
