My Life ... Don't Try This At Home by Scott Flynn is a biographical set of stories that tell a number of tales about the author. Scott is a diligent child, except when faced with the Grand Canyon, a car enthusiast, entrepreneur, popular with the ladies and has many other faces. The stories in this book give the reader an insight into his colorful life. His childhood stories of camping will have you roaring with laughter, the memories he shares will make you smile. Scott is a remarkable man who achieves great success in all he sets out to do and the tales of his journey will keep you entertained as you read. There are also poignant moments and I defy you to read Uncle Mikey’s story without shedding a tear.
I loved this book! As soon as I finished it, I reread it in case I had missed anything. I love a Yankee's take on the South and the wit and humor is infectious, Scott Flynn has filled My Life with tales that will uplift you and make you believe in the human spirit. Sometimes when successful people write about their achievements they can be condescending. Scott just makes you believe you could do better if you tried harder. Meeting his wife and becoming a stepdad or buying his first Ferrari, buying and selling his first business or attending a hundred concerts in one year, is there a phrase that describes Scott Flynn? I think there is and it has to be ‘natural storyteller.’ I suspect there are hundreds more tales to tell; bring them on!
