I am a published poet and author, published with the publishing group, Creative Talents Unleashed, with one published poetry book out. My poetry has been published in several magazines, including, Section 8 Magazine and an anthology. I also write fiction and I'm finished with my first fiction book. It is a science fiction post-apocalyptic novella titled, "The Last Refuge". It will be out Winter 2015. I am also working on a second poetry book, this one with an artist friend who is contributing his artwork. It is titled, "One Artist, One Poet", and will be out Spring 2015. Other than all of that, I am currently a student at the University of Oregon, pursuing my Bachelor's of Arts in English Literature. I am a straight A student with a 3.75 GPA. I hope to get into the MFA Creative Writing Poetry Focus program at the University of Oregon after I receive my Bachelor's degree. If I get into the MFA program and complete it, I hope to become a college creative writing poetry professor and also become the owner of my own poetry magazine. As far as reading poetry goes, I am pretty picky. I enjoy the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Sylvia Plath, Robert Frost, Virginia Woolf, and W.B. Yeats. As far as fiction goes, my three favorite authors are Laurell K. Hamilton, Anne Rice, and J.K. Rowling. I don't read much non-fiction, but I enjoy reading about history, politics, and sociology.

Musings of a Madman is a collection of poetry written by Adam Levon Brown, an English literature student attending the University of Oregon. His poems cover a wide range of topics ranging from classical themes, modern events and discourses on the different aspects of love, to selections that celebrate nature. In Modern Aphrodite, Brown merges past and present in a poem that uses the repetition of feminine pronouns at the beginning of each line to recreate a living presence. His concerns with the natural world and the destruction of the environment are also the subject of poems such as Eyes of a Bird. Brown’s style is a mix of free and rhymed verse. His rhyming poems have strong and compelling rhyme schemes that propel the reader as he/she reads. Many of Brown’s free verse poems seem to have a more measured, introspective and leisurely aspect to them, and seem more of an invitation to the reader to deliberate and ponder on the poet’s message.
Adam Levon Brown’s collection of poetry, Musings of a Madman, is honest and compelling. I was impressed by how open and fearless the poet was with sharing his feelings about things that are obviously important to him. While I enjoyed the rhymed works, I found myself drawn more deeply into the free verse Brown included in this collection, especially the poems: Why Did You?, Fire and Ice, Soul Mates and The Waltz. I loved experiencing the beach through Brown’s eyes in Vacation in San Diego and was awed by his sweetly powerful Question. Brown gives the reader bold enough to enter into Musings of a Madman a lot to think about and feel, and it’s well worth the challenge to do just that. By the end of the collection, I felt enriched and moved by the experience and am eager to read more of this talented poet's work. Musings of a Madman is highly recommended.
