Murder on Skis by Phil Bayly is much more than a story about skiing. It is the story of the town of Grizzly Mountain and the people who live and play there. The mystery begins when a woman is found frozen on the ski trail; the woman who owns the ski lodge is found dead in a gondola, and a man dies on the mountain. What started as accidents are suddenly all starting to look that there might be a serial killer on the loose. JC, a TV reporter, and his old friend Al, a mountain ranger, begin investigating the clues and it takes them in several interesting directions. The suspects are many and the clues offer twists and turns, taking them in several different directions. There is also skiing, snowboarding, and bison that add special touches to the story.

First and foremost, Murder on Skis by Phil Bayly is a mystery that is a really good read. As I read long into the night, there was no way to be sure who the killer was and who would be the next victim; I changed my mind several times and never did pick the right one. JC was the main character and it was impossible not to like him and be concerned for his staying alive, along with his friends and his long-lost girlfriend, Shara, and her faithful dog Jumper. Phil Bayly brought the characters and the skiing scene to life and gave us a winning story. Murder on Skis is a must-read for all fans of a good mystery book.
