Moving Without Shaking by Yelena Parker is a compilation of information and data to help women and anyone contemplating and planning a career abroad. These brave women are leaving their home countries for more opportunities in foreign lands where they do not speak the language, the culture and food are different, and basically everything about life and work is completely out of their comfort zones. Besides using her own experiences, the author interviews eight other women, from different backgrounds, to ascertain what makes someone successful in moving to a different country for employment, and what attributes it takes. Each woman is from a different country, continent, economic background, political environment, and has different individual dreams about their life. The book is organized in a very easy format that takes the reader through every step of the relocating process to help ease the normal fears and trepidation that such a drastic change of life inevitably brings.

First time author Yelena Parker writes her “how-to” book with authority, experience, and a vastness of insight that is very enlightening and empowering for anyone dreaming about working globally. Parker is a Ukrainian American who first moved to the United States to pursue exciting opportunities and has lived in five and worked in twenty countries successfully. She is truly a global citizen of the world and teaches the reader how to go about moving, relocating, and working in a new country with the least amount of stress and worry. This book is an invaluable and “must-have” tool and reference guide for everyone – from the dreamer who has only a vague idea of working in another country to someone negotiating a package with their company, to someone who already has their ticket booked. This book is not just for women, but for everyone contemplating a move abroad. Parker inspires and empowers people from every walk of life and background to pursue their dreams and live a bigger dream of trotting the globe!

Moving to a foreign country might be the best thing that happens to your life, both professional and private, because of the new opportunities it gives you, but it also comes with a number of challenges. In her book Moving Without Shaking, Yelena Parker gives you an insider's guide to an expatriate's life. She shows you why it is at times important to relocate to another country, the challenges you might face, and how to prepare for those challenges so you can have a smoother landing in your new home and a more successful stay.

Moving Without Shaking by Yelena Parker is a very informative book covering the how and why of expat life. Whatever the driving goal behind your need to relocate to another country, be it for your career, education, family etc, this book will answer all the burning questions facing you. Yelena Parker drew on her personal experiences and those of other women like herself who had lived in different countries, and even continents, away from home at one point or another and this really made her advice very practical. I loved that she underscored the gravity of the challenges that come with the decision to relocate to a different country. She does not promise that the move will be easy, but instead lets you in on tested secrets on how to manage, and even overcome these challenges. Moving Without Shaking would be a worthy read for anyone looking to relocate to another country, anyone who has already relocated but needs some guidance on how to make it work, or someone just looking to offer support to an expat.

Moving Without Shaking: The Guide to Expat Life Success by Yelena Parker is a helpful guide with useful tips and practical advice to those who move away from their parent country to start working elsewhere. The book has some inspiring stories and it covers an extensive and expansive view on topics from culture adaptation to all the adjustments one needs to make while moving abroad. The book is challenging and it puts to rest the fears many harbor in their minds while making the change. The book is a sort of reassurance to the next generation of women who want to leave their country and go to work elsewhere for better opportunities and lifestyle.

It is quite an inspirational read as the book speaks about opening the doors to new countries, new friendships, new careers and new surroundings. The author lists eight factors that she considers perfect to show how well adapted one is for the move. The book also highlights the importance of education for women when trying for good jobs outside their own countries.

I enjoyed reading this immensely. The author's style of writing is candid and casual and the stories of eight expat women the author has showcased in the book are indeed helpful. In fact, the book is more than just a guide; it is a great tool for those dreaming of relocating abroad.
