Mother Knows Worst is a romance drama novel by Sofia Bella Roma. Based on real events, the book follows the life of Rose Vella, an Italian American woman in her thirties who meets a handsome Indian student named Anil at law school. Feeling an intense mutual attraction to each other, it doesn't take long for Rose and Anil to fall in love, and soon they end up living together. When Anil asks Rose to move to Georgia from their small town in New England, Rose accepts his request despite her own misgivings. However, Rose fails to make an impression on Anil's parents, especially his mother, Amita. After they get married, Amita's behavior puts a strain on their relationship. Additionally, Anil becomes increasingly dependent on alcohol. How will Rose cope? Will she be able to stand up for herself?

Author Sofia Bella Roma tells an absorbing story about two people from very different backgrounds falling in love and struggling to navigate the circumstances and people around them. Infusing romance, humor, and plenty of drama, Roma weaves an engaging narrative that keeps hold of the reader until the last page. Mother Knows Worst is not just a dramatic comedy but also a novel that showcases the challenges people sometimes face in adapting to other cultures, especially in relationships involving in-laws. The characters have their own idiosyncrasies, which make them very intriguing to read. Rose and Anil's dynamic feels genuine, as do their respective struggles and conflicts. Recommended to readers who savor drama novels revolving around relationships.

Mother Knows Worst is about the struggles two young adults trying to adult in a world that often throws a curve ball in their direction which is often pitched by Rose's mother in law. Trying to find their way through college, dating, and married life they go through the ups and downs of every day life, despite the constant interference of Rose's mothers in law. No matter what Rose does or doesn't do, she just can't seem to catch a break from her mother in law or gain her acceptance.

Sofia Bella Roma is engaging and tells the tales of her life from childhood to adulthood to mother hood. She keeps the reader interested, wanting to know what will happen next or what curve ball will be thrown next. The end of the story makes the reader wanting more!

Mother Knows Worst was an absolutely enlightening and soul searching read. It explored the challenges of relationships, especially those from different cultural backgrounds. The author, Sophia, brings to life the characters thru their down to earth experiences and real life journeys. Although my own relationship is not one of different ethnic backgrounds, this book really explores the cultural backgrounds that are so relevant to my own life and relationships. It’s a great read for anyone wanting to connect and relate to the human experience and the day to day interactions in our lives. I couldn’t put this book down and can’t wait for Sophia’s next book.

I found the storyline compelling due to the fact I am part of an interracial marriage. I understand how cultural differences and the barriers that are unintentionally created can impact a marriage. The storyline flows smoothly, easily keeping my attention and anticipation. I look forward to see what happens to Rose.
