Moonbeams and Poetry: For Those Whose Ears Are Pricked and Tongues That Are Long-Drawn is a collection of poems that predominantly focus on nature. Jerry Staudenraus describes various scenes and creates a distinctive atmosphere where the characteristics of the seasons are implicit. Jerry views marvelous and fierce animals like wolves and lions from a different perspective, teaching us to admire the beauty of nature. Although his poetry is wild and based on natural forces, he also explores calm and romantic moments. Jerry constantly celebrates the beauty of women, as well as shows us a deeper side with words relating to life and death. Jerry has a fluid style that can turn anything into poetry, from complex subjects like a moment of sadness to the simplicity of contemplating the sky.
Each poem comes with an image, either a photo or a drawing, that helps readers to visualize the ideas he portrays. Despite the different themes, Jerry Staudenraus knows how to maintain a melodic and pleasant rhythm. I like the way he perceives reality with a touch of fantasy. His poems are short because he expresses himself fluently using just a few words. Moonbeams and Poetry is appropriate for all types of readers who enjoy poetry or simply the exaltation of nature. Many readers will feel inspired to look for the magic within their daily routine. I also appreciated that Jerry examines both ordinary and extraordinary subjects alike while maintaining a balance throughout. Through his words, people will see various realistic situations with a new focus.
