The witty and quirky romantic comedy, Merry Switchmas: A Magical Christmas Romance by Elise Eliot, is about choosing to become who we were meant to be and the beauty of living a life of love rather than resentment. After giving her all to her cousin’s cosmetics company, Bethany is fired on Christmas Eve. Incensed by Tate’s cruelty, Bethany decides to seek revenge. Tate is suddenly transported to another life; the life she could have chosen if she had allowed herself to love and be loved. At first, Tate wishes she could switch back to her former self but the more she lives in this alternate world, the more she becomes aware of what she has been missing. To top it off, she is reunited with the love of her life whom she had dumped years before.
This lovely holiday story is a wonderful comparison of two lives; one lived with malice and spite and another with kindness and love. There are many light-hearted scenes that I found entertaining. I liked the twists in the story and loved Tate’s growth as she realized what she could have gained by loving others and living the life she was meant to live. Other characters are also interesting and have depth. Tate and Amir’s love story is beautifully explored. The surprises in the plot keep the story engaging and its ending is satisfying and captivating. Packed with thrilling turns, fascinating characters, and powerful lessons, Merry Switchmas by Elise Eliot is the perfect read for the holiday season.
