Young Mason loves watching and helping his daddy work. Lillie Penelope Humphries shares Mason’s adventure with her readers in Mason the Mechanic: You Can Be Anything You Want to Be. This children’s book is a great reminder that children love to emulate their parents. Mason decides that he wants to be just like his dad when he grows up—a mechanic. Parents can use this book to help their children understand that waiting until they become adults is difficult, but there are things they can do even at an early age. Mason decides he will go ahead and do some type of work fixing things. He finds a project in the neighborhood and then applies his limited knowledge to fix the problem. He learns that real work is hard, and it might be wiser to wait until he is bigger and stronger to work full-time.
