Martin Legacy is the second book in the Martin Generations by Abigayle Claire, a novel with strong Christian themes that explores a family as it evolves through challenges. Once a single and struggling mother, Gemma begins to find solace and stability in her life when she gets engaged to a gentle farmer. Building their new family is something that takes her focus. But the life they are struggling to build is threatened by a past that haunts Gemma. Farris doesn’t even remember much of that past. Does she have the fight in her to keep her head high and face the storm?
The theme of family is so ingeniously developed that I enjoyed the exchanges between the Martins. The narrative opens with drama and it only gets better as the reader turns from page to page. The characters are elaborately developed and emotionally rich. One of my favorite characters was Farris and I enjoyed how the author explored the religious influence in his life, growing up in a big family. Gemma has grown up a spoiled city girl and now she embraces the dynamics of a new family. There is a unique role that the farming family plays in the story and it is interesting to read how it feels growing up in a big family and in a rural area. Martin Legacy by Abigayle Claire is cunningly plotted, character-driven, and filled with drama. The dialogues are well-crafted. This is a page-turner filled with realism, an inspiring story with strong family themes.
