Man Cave of Health: A Why-To Book About Men’s Health is a work of fiction in the health and fitness genre. It is suitable for the general reading audience and was penned by LaRue Palmer. The book is a discussion on men’s health that focuses less on how to be healthy and more on why it is important for men to pursue their own health and wellbeing. Subverting the machismo that leads immature men to believe themselves invincible, the book explores the mindsets that lead to excess, to risk-taking, to avoiding difficult conversations about health problems and mental wellbeing.
This book addresses an important but huge gap in the market for books about health care; challenging the preconceptions and societal expectations that lead to men not taking their health seriously. It’s easy for a masculine idea of placing health and self-care low on the list of priorities in order to live more hedonistically to firmly plant itself in the mind of young men, and the bad habits that form can last a lifetime with deadly consequences. Luckily LaRue Palmer has recognized this oversight in himself and his fellow man and throughout this book holds a frank discussion of the mindsets that lead so many men on the path of sleepwalking into disease and poor health. Man Cave of Health demonstrates a keen understanding of how men around the world have walked into this trap of endangering their lives, and is littered with examples and strategies of how to get out of the dangerous mindset.
