Author Biography

I wrote my first “book” at the age of seven and have been writing or involved in stories in some way ever since. I was working at Paramount Pictures immersed in and films and television series when I received a summons for jury duty. During my time in the courthouse, I was inspired by certain characters and events, the seed was planted, and Malfeasance blossomed from there.
Stories are a reflection of our lives, whether we feel we can identify literally, metaphorically or empathetically, they enrich us. As an avid reader, I love being immersed in the worlds created by others - it’s like living an extra life or two. My greatest wish for readers of my work is that they come away with something new and mostly that they enjoy the ride.

Aleks Lyons’ Malfeasance is a legal thriller with an impeccable twist, a tale so finely written that perhaps the author’s name will soon be echoed by fans of John Grisham. Stephen Reeves is one of the members of the jury in the sensational murder trial of U.S. Senator George Claxton. Claxton is accused of murdering his aide. The jury is sequestered and denied access to the public. Stephen is seduced by a juror who eventually convinces him to change his vote. Well, it won’t make any huge difference as she is determined to create a hung jury with her vote. What happens next surprises Stephen, for he discovers that he is the only one with the vote that hangs the jury. But when the seductress is murdered, Stephen becomes the witness and prime suspect. He is thrust into a game far deadlier than he ever imagined. Can he prove his innocence and get his life back or is he headed for the fate he denied a murderer?

Malfeasance is one of the most thrilling stories I have read in the genre, with beautifully developed characters and an ingeniously crafted plot. The effect that Eileen has on Stephen is strong and the author offers a convincing background to it. But her tragic death introduces a nerve-jerking twist to the plot. Stephen is a compelling character whose humanity is intelligently explored. The writing is crisp, the story hugely entertaining and gripping, but best of all is the introduction of an unusual protagonist. The tension builds up steadily and reaches fever peak when Stephen discovers the body of Eileen at her home. What is most surprising is the way the author manages the ending, handling it like a master, and steering it to a satisfactory denouement. I just became a fan of Aleks Lyons.
