Love & Ink Vol. 2: Reflections by Kiana Donae is a collection of personal poems that looks at society, life and the world around us. The author has written about the world of celebrities, her own life and experiences, as well as a tribute to Maya Angelou. The poems were written across 2014 and 2015. There seems to be some heartache behind a few of the poems, but turning it into something creative is a good outlet for it. I particularly enjoyed the poems Better Days, Heart Trip and Reflection. I think that there is a poem in here for most people to enjoy or one that will strike a chord with them. I like the line: 'My pen is wild for it knows no limits, it writes whatever it feels.' I think most writers can relate to that.
Kiana Donae has written a very personal set of poems in Love & Ink Vol. 2 and you can see and feel the emotion and passion in them. The poem Wayward Royalty is about women and the way they portray themselves on social media. It would definitely be a controversial topic that people will either agree with or hate. She touches on some current topics that may date the work in years to come. Overall, the poetry is well written and the writer definitely has talent.
