Stephanie Tehan Patterson writes an inspirational book in Living Life with a Smile. This book walks you through many of life’s scenarios. Each chapter contains a realistic topic that each of us faces on our journey through life. Keeping it real, Patterson shares her own stories, some of which are painfully comical - all to remind us to smile in the good times and even more so in the bad times. In the introduction she states, “Words hold a lot of power.” The cause and effect of words, feelings and thoughts are seen throughout the entire work. So whether we are facing adversity, the drama of dating, the ups and downs of family life, or the kindness of strangers, we are encouraged to SMILE. “It is not up to others to keep us happy. That responsibility lies within.”
Living Life with a Smile was a delightful and motivating read. Stephanie Tehan Patterson’s stories and anecdotes woven throughout the chapters kept the theme of the book engaging. She wrote with authority by using her own life experiences as a measuring stick of truth. She did so without any hint of haughtiness. As a reader, I found myself remembering similar situations, therefore I could totally relate to the message she was relaying. Patterson achieved her goal because time after time I caught myself smiling. I especially admire the sincerity of her writing. She covered many “life lesson” topics, portraying the truth that our life matters, and that each of us have a destiny that needs to be fulfilled. What we do in life really does make a difference. So...smile and look for the lighter side of life.
