There are lots of things about life that we do not know, but we do know that life is not all black-and-white. No one knows this better than Katie Weber, who obviously lives in the gray. In her book, Living in the Gray, Katie explains that her life is in limbo between having cancer and not having cancer. Every year, roughly 400 people are diagnosed with the type of rare brain cancer that Katie has. That makes it rare. Living with cancer is difficult, but living with a rare cancer is even more difficult. Read this little book to better understand the struggles cancer survivors face. Katie does not seek pity. Instead, she enjoys writing and aims to share her story in such a way as to help others understand.
Katie Weber has three main goals in writing Living in the Gray. The first goal is to get her message across in an understandable manner. Because of the damage done by her brain cancer, she struggles to communicate verbally. Writing allows her to “speak” without interrupting anyone or having people say they cannot understand her speech. Another reason for her authoring this book is to help others going through difficult times to know they are not alone. Just because one cannot do what others may do does not mean they should be isolated or worthless. The third reason is to show that no matter the circumstance, one can always look for the good in life. Her good from cancer includes the writing of books. This book is an interesting and informative read. I highly recommend reading this book and learning about living with cancer.
